The building was the residence of the Guardiaboschi, therefore a place for the protection of the environmental heritage. The warden in fact dealt with the prevention and repression of illegal logging, the control of correct civic uses of wood and pasture on State lands, and the protection of fauna from poaching.
The building, abandoned for a long time, was in the state of ruin, so the City of Pietramontecorvino a few years ago, decided to restructure the property and to allocate it to environmental education activities. Inside there are dioramas on the forest ecosystem and from its vicinity there is a path, which crosses the forest to Pila del Ladro and Pila Sant'Onofrio.
