Mela Limoncella
Limoncella apple is an ancient apple variety that has perfectly adapted to the territory of the Dauni Mountains.
The first historical information on the cultivation of this product concern the territories of Anzano, Panni and Monteleone di Puglia where it is still cultivated.
These niche apple orchards resist the cold and drought very well, the fruits are rich in calcium and magnesium.
In the kitchen Limoncella apple can be used to cook, boiled or baked, or as an ingredient of cakes or buns. In ancient times it was used to keep it in containers containing vinegar together with peppers and tomatoes, thus obtaining a famous compote. Excellent also in the preparation of delicious jams.
